Back from KL - We went up Genting Highlands yesterday for dinner, did some shopping and enjoyed the cool air (which is in direct contrast to KL's 35 - 36 C in the day) and drove back down to KL. Massive traffic jam along the way, as there was an accident along the Karak Highway (that winding highway up Genting). Oh, and we checked out of the Concorde after the first night cos' we heard that the Corus Hotel Ampang was having a better promotion - a similiar type of room for about half the price of that charged by Concorde. So that was where we stayed at last night.
I saw my folks sacrifice so much so that my brother could rush back to JB yesterday, in time to spend Valentine's Day with his gf today. They went to Puduraya (that main bus terminal in KL where no Malaysian would ever want to go to if he/she has no reason to be there in the 1st place; and where the city buses, inter-state buses, north, south all converge in KL) yesterday morning to look for a bus ticket to JB. They talked of massive traffic jams, touts trying to sell them a ticket for RM 45 (the usual rate is RM 25), and a very poorly ventilated bus terminal - it is located inside a building. To make things worse, my dad jumped a traffic light and so unluckily, there was a policeman waiting right there. Got summoned RM 20. Finally got him a ticket (at RM 25) that was supposed to leave for JB at 4.30pm.
After buying the ticket, they drove back to the hotel where all of us were still sleeping away. And then, they drove him to KLCC Suria so that he could buy a present and flowers for her. While he was shopping (with my sister), the three of us (i've long ago been "upgraded" to that of my parents-level) went for lunch at Ampang Yong Tau Foo.
And they went to pack dinner for him as the express bus would probably stop at some bland, pricey, and nothing-to-eat restaurant somewhere along the way. Drove back into the jam at Puduraya, where my mum followed him to the choking, fume(y) Puduraya. While the rest of us waited in the car.
10 minutes later,
"Ooops... I left the flowers in the car. Can you ask Daddy to bring it over now?"
So I'm sitting in the driver's seat (in a supposedly no-parking zone, but nobody cares anyway) with my sister while my dad very patiently brought the flowers to him.
After that, we immediately left for Genting. We just had to escape from the heat. Today, we had lunch with Aunty Molly and Lily (again) at Ampang Yong Tau Foo (again), and I drove back all the way to JB. On my own again. heh. Heavy traffic all the way down south, since people are rushing back to the city after the CNY holidays.
Counting the angpows from KL right now... $10, $20, $30... hmm. Not a bad idea not to marry heh, haha.
