As i thought u should already know, my french lessons are on monday 6pm - 9pm. yesterday was the 5th lesson (out of 10), and yesterday's lessons focused on numbers and giving information. Now,
un, deux, trois, quatre, cinq, six, sept, huit, neuf, dix (one to ten)
onze, douze, treize, quatorze, quinze, seize, dix-sept, dix-huit, dix-neuf, vingt (eleven to twenty)
vingt et un (20 AND 1), vingt-deux, vingt-trois, vingt-quatre, etc etc.. (twenty-one to twenty-nine) - note that only 21 has the "et", which is = "and".
trente, trente et un, trente-deux, trente-trois... (thirty to thirty-nine)
quarante, quarante et un, quarante-deux, quarante-trois, quarante-quatre, quarante-cinq (forty to forty-nine)
cinquante, cinquante et un, cinquante-deux, cinquante-trois, cinquante-quatre (fifty to fifty-nine)
soixante, soixante et un, soixante-deux, soixante-trois (sixty to sixty-nine)..
AND the tricky part is from 70 to 99, because...
70 is soixante-dix (which is, 60 + 10)
71 is soixante-onze (60 + 11) (and take away the "et" = and)
72 is soixante-douze (60 + 12)
And from 80 to 99, it is... *don't laugh*
80 is quatre-vingts (which is.. 4 X 20)
81 is quatre-vingt-un (4 X 20 + 1)
82 is quatre-vingt-deux (4 X 20 + 2)
88 is quatre-vingt-huit (4 X 20 + 8)
90 is quatre-vingt-dix (4 X 20 + 10)
91 is quatre-vingt-onze (4 X 20 + 11)
96 is quatre-vingt-seize (4 X 20 + 16)
After 100 is much easier, but I'll talk about it another day :) And I didn't refer to any textbook or website while writing this, so I'm quite proud of myself :)
Je voudrais un café et deux croissants, s'il vous plait - i remember this sentence really well.. don't know why. It means "I would like a coffee and two croissants, if you please."
But more importantly,
Elle est jolie femme - She is a beautiful woman.
Trust me to remember such stuff :) Right.. back to politics.
