17 Feb 04 - My timetable is again altered to put me in as Mrs Nicholson's aide in Yr 6 Math.. my job is to help the new South African guy (Keegan).. and I've got feedback that his Math needs quite a bit of help.. I brought up my request to get an allowance to Mrs Howard (secondary co-ordinator) this time.. and she said she'll e-mail the P to forward my request + tell him that everyone's very happy with me around (the P's based in the primary sch, so none of the secondary staff really get to see him btw)... Now that's pretty flattering; it's nice to be praised once in a while.. I think this teaching stint is fast confirming my conviction to be teaching as my first job.. hopefully in TJC.. tmrw I have Yr 10/11 double chinese! (yeah).. i'm feeling quite evil now; so i'll prob just let them do zuo wen *evil grin*.
National Service (or Khidmat Negara in Malay) is starting off in quite a big way in Malaysia, or so it seems from the news coverage it has been getting these days.. The first batch of 26000 ppl born in 1986 went to their respective camps yesterday.. and people from a particular state are more often than not sent to camps not in their own states... (hmm doesn't sound gramatically correct there).. if i was selected for NS (which i'm not cos i escaped it by being one year older), i'd be more than happy to go for it and get posted to the north or across the south china sea to East Malaysia. hmm..
btw, Straits Times website has a pretty interesting photo essay galley.. where essays/events/issues are brought out through the use of photos. i quite like the one on SAF Detention Barracks and The Children of Vietnam...
